The CHAnnel Innovation Network (CHAIN) aims to facilitate networking and collaboration between highly innovative companies in the Solent area (Isle of Wight/Portsmouth), Devon and Cornwall, Normandy (France) and Brittany (France).
Working through regional administrators, who will introduce companies that have potential for collaboration, we aim to develop significant cross-channel business opportunities.
The relationships formed between regional administrators are vital for project success. Regional administrators will work co-operatively to ensure that suitable company matches are made.
We are seeking companies who operate within six priority sectors: ICT, Bio-industries, Sustainable development, Mechanical & materials, Logistics & transportation, and Marine & maritime industries.

Growing Business Awards
The aim of the Growing Business Awards is to celebrate the achievements, innovation and entrepreneurialism of UK businesses.
The awards comprise 11 award categories, which include the following:
Green Business of the Year.
Customer Excellence Award.
Global Outlook and Expansion Award.
Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
The Stelios Award for Disabled Entrepreneurs.
Applications are invited from independently-owned companies that have less than 1,000 employees. Entry to more than one category is permitted.
Winners will receive a certificate and television, radio and press coverage. The Stelios Award for Disabled Entrepreneurs offers a cash prize of £50,000.
The deadline for receipt of applications to the Stelios Award for Disabled Entrepreneurs is 3 September 2010 whilst the deadline for all other awards is 17 September 2010.

Cornwall Design Forum Development Plan
There have been some major developments within the Cornwall Design Forum.
After the CDF Visioning day held in December 2009 that many of you attended, we have put together a detailed plan of what the CDF needs to do to be beneficial and influential to promote design in Cornwall.
After the CDF Visioning day held in December 2009 that many of you attended, we have put together a detailed plan of what the CDF needs to do to be beneficial and influential to promote design in Cornwall
In order to serve your needs as creative businesses in Cornwall we have applied for funding through the Design Council.
Within our outlined plan we aim to:
• Employ a human resource to ensure the day to day running of the CDF and give us an designated contact
• Update and develop our website
• Bring Designers and businesses together through organised events
• Communicate to our members on a more regular basis, through the media and e-newsletters
Over the past year we have the CDF has recognised that it needs to be proactive in driving up the demand for design, therefore we promoted ourselves at the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Business Fair, developed exclusive events to benefit members, such as Designing Demand in April.
