About the CDF

The Cornwall Design Forum was launched in 2004 as a fully constituted, not-for-profit organisation.

We encompass all disciplines of design; from 3D design, interiors, landscape, architecture to fashion and graphic design. With a body of paying members, the Cornwall Design Forum has been set up for designers by designers. The Cornwall Design Forum seeks to be a focus for this dynamic and growing business sector in the county, a crucible for ideas and actions.

Mission statement

The Cornwall Design Forum seeks to promote, encourage and serve the design industry in Cornwall, to the benefit of its paying members.

Objectives

Our work spans three distinct purposes. Any activity we undertake (either independently or via working partnerhsips) must benefit our members by achieving at least one of these objectives:

Serve Cornwall’s design industry

To demonstrate the success of members both within and beyond our region.
To promote and encourage design procurement best practice.
To provide new business opportunities for members.
To promote ongoing training and provide CPD opportunities for members.
To provide a resource of knowledge and research for members.
To enable members achieve a greater competitive advantage over non-members.

Encourage Cornwall’s design industry

To demonstrate that thriving as a design professional outside of an urban context, and more specifically within Cornwall, is possible.
To illustrate that collaboration can be as lucrative as competition.
To motivate and inspire creative excellence within Cornwall.
To encourage Cornwall’s design community to communicate, share and collaborate.
To support, encourage and promote creative excellence and innovation.
To encourage members to explore new national and international markets.

Promote Cornwall’s design industry

To set the strategic agenda for design in Cornwall, and to be recognised as the authoritative voice representing Cornwall’s design community.
To be the mechanism by which local, regional and national agencies and funding bodies engage with Cornwall’s design sector.
To act as a communication point between members, the business community and the designers of tomorrow currently in formal education.
To raise the profile of effective design work by members, to both public and business audiences within Cornwall.
To demonstrate how design has a significant part to play in Cornwall’s society, across social and quality of life agendas.
To raise the profile of Cornwall’s design community outside of the region; both nationally and internationally.
